choosing your wedding music
where to begin
🎶 When choosing your wedding music, the first place to begin is by asking yourself “what genre of music would you like performed”? Would you like classical, popular, soundtrack, etc or a combination of genres?
🎶 Do you have any “must plays” for your wedding? Is there a song or piece you have always envisioned for your wedding?
🎶 Elite Strings will be happy to work with you to tailor a unique playlist that reflects your musical taste and compliments your event!
music lists
Each ensemble variation has its own unique music list. Be sure to choose music for the ensemble of your choice.
ceremony music selections
Prelude Music
We perform 30 minutes of prelude music before the beginning of the ceremony as guests are being seated. The prelude music is the introduction to the tone you are setting for your event. You can hand pick your prelude playlist or let us choose music we believe perfectly compliments your ceremony music selections. If you choose to handpick your prelude selections, we recommend choosing around 13 selections to fill the 30 minutes.
Seating of the Family (1 Piece)
Think “walking tempo” and “happy” for music. Is there a special song a family member used in their wedding that is sentimental to them? This would be a great place for it!
Wedding party (1 Piece)
Think “walking tempo” and “happy” for this one as well! If you have a small wedding party and small number of family being seated, it may be best to have one music selection for both the family and the wedding party so more of the music can be heard. We aim to have the music flow smoothly and have time to build.
bride (1 Piece)
Definitely something you know you love. This is your moment!
in ceremony (optional)
Do you have communion, wine box ceremony, tying of the knot, etc during your ceremony you would like music for? Think “walking tempo” also for this one.
recessional (1 piece)
Upbeat! This is where the celebration really gets going.
cocktail hour/reception
Music you know you will love! There is no wrong answer here. Do you have any “must plays” or any “do not play” music requests for the cocktail hour? Most clients tell us some composers/artists they enjoy (or composers/artist/songs they don’t like) and let us choose the cocktail hour music. You are totally welcome to choose all your music! For a 1 hour cocktail hour, we recommend choosing around 25 songs.
common wedding music questions
do i have to time walking with the music?
No, we have loops and cuts we take in the music so we can play the music for as long or short as needed.
i have a special song in mind but I do not see it on your music list?
We do custom arrangements of music for an additional fee. Creating the perfect arrangement does take time and we need at least 2 months notice to write the arrangement and really make it perfect! We take great pride in our arrangements and many are sold worldwide.
when do you need my music selections?
Music selections must be made 1 month prior to the event.
